Changu Narayan is the sacred and religious temple of Hindus that also has been able to inscribe its name on the UNESCO World Heritage site. The religious temple is located 12 km east of Kathmandu and a few miles north of Bhaktapur.
The splendid hill station Nagarkot is situated just 32 km east of Kathmandu. Nagarkot is quite famous for the sunrise and sunset panorama. This beautiful hill offers the majestic panorama of the Himalayan Ranges.
Changu Narayan Nagarkot Hike
This hike is a short hike so you don’t have to rush early. Take the bus towards Changu Narayan and then start the hike.
The overall hike from Changu Narayan to Nagarkot takes about 3-4 hours.
Upon reaching Changu Narayan take the trail towards Telkot. The trail pass through terraced fields and local villages (Tamang and Newar ethnic groups), along with the beautiful green forest before reaching the Telkot bus stop. It’s just around 1 and a half to 2 hours’ walk from Changu Narayan to Telkot.
The trail is very comfortable with very low ascends and follows the graveled road.
Now, after reaching Telkot the trail follows the blacktopped road towards the Nagarkot. The trail offers the spectacular sight of the mighty Himalayas on the northern side. Hiking through the beautiful villages while witnessing the majestic panorama of the Himalayas makes you feel quite awesome.
Furthermore, the trail passes the numerous stream and beautiful hamlets before reaching Nagarkot. After the continuous walk of around an hour now there comes the shortcut trail to reach the Nagarkot Hill. So we recommend you to ask the local people of the area and take the shortcut that ascends through the beautiful villages.
Upon reaching Nagarkot spend some quality time witnessing the splendid panorama of the Himalayas and later take the bus towards Bhaktapur.
