The hike from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha to Panauti falls under the famous hiking route that goes around the Kavrepalanchowk District. Dhulikhel is famous for the majestic panorama of the snow-capped Himalayas whereas Namo Buddha houses the glorious Buddhist Monastery and also propounds the spectacular sceneries of beautiful hills and mountains. On the other hand, Panauti is the oldest town in Nepal which consists of the historical temples dating back to the 15th century or earlier. Take the Bus to Dhulikhel from Old Buspark which might take around 1 and a half hours to reach Dhulikhel. Now start walking from Dhulikhel Buspark to Dhulikhel Park and then take the right turn to ascend 1000 stairs. It might take around 1-hour cross the 1000 stairs and reach the top. At the top of the hill resides the Kali Temple. The hill provides a splendid view of Panchkhal Valley. After spending some quality time at the top of the hill now walk towards the Kavrebhanjyang and meet the BP Highway. Now walk along the highway for some minutes until seeing the stairs which are the shortest hiking route to Namo Buddha. Take the stairs and ascends towards the Namo Buddha which might take around 2 and a half hours.
Upon reaching Namo Buddha witness the spectacular majestic panorama of the Himalayan range in case of clear weather and explore the monastery. There is a special Buddhist legend about King Mahasattva offering his body to a hungry tigress at this very place which makes Namo Buddha a holy site for Buddhist people. Take your time to explore this beautiful landmark enjoying the wonderful sceneries and landscapes. Later descend down to Panauti via Sankhu, the old village which offers the beautiful scenery and greenery of paddy fields. The hike from Namo Buddha to Panauti takes around 3 hours. Explore Panauti and finally take the Bus to Kathmandu from Panauti and return back to Kathmandu.
