Full Moon Classical Music Concert in Kirateshwor

Kirateshwor Mahadev in the form of Lord Shiva who is in love with music. The Kirateshwor Mahadev temple is situated in between of Pashupatinath and Guheshwori which courtyard shows the musical concert every month on Full Moon Day.

The concert is organized by Kirateshwor Music Ashram, which was founded in 1991 AD (2048 BS) for the development and teaching of classical music. This tradition has contributed a lot to the development of classical music in Nepal.

The show has proceeded with its journey from 1991 AD. During its 25 years, long journey Kirateshwor Music Ashram continue the concert on extreme time of 10 years-long civil war and curfew.

The concert welcomes the eminent traditional artist from everywhere throughout the globe to perform here on every full moon day. The show usually incorporates the different eastern conventional instruments like Sitar, Sarod, Tanpura, Bansuri, Sarangi, Tabla as well as sometimes they incorporate western musical instruments like guitar, banjos, etc which gives such a relaxing, peaceful, and soothing experience.

The spiritual environment of Pashupati, along the Mrigasthali jungle situated at the bank of the holy Bagmati River compliments this classical concert even more. The shows run from 4 pm to 7 pm during the winter season and 5 pm to 8 pm during the late spring season. You can experience a lively musical journey without any cost as there is no entry fee.
