The mountain was named after George Everest, former Surveyor General of India in the nineteenth century.

However, it is easier to climb Everest from Nepal as it is warmer and less windy than that from Tibet. The Everest was first ascended by Sir Edmund Hillary from Newzealand and his guide Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal in 1953. Whereas, from the Tibetian border the Chinese mountaineering team of Wang Fuzhou, Gonpo, and Qu Yinhua were the first to ascend Everest in the year 1960.

Mt Everest is Still the ultimate mountaineering adventure for the climbers. However, it is a fact that only 5000 people have accomplished their journey to Everest since 1953. The summit to the peak takes a month of physical preparation and a week of adjustment. This gets the climbers ready to adapt to the mountain climates and altitudes. Mostly expeditions to Everest Takes around two months. The journey towards the summit starts with half an hour flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport. From Lukla, climbers trek 40 miles to the foot of the mountain which may take two weeks for trekkers to acclimatize to the high-altitude environment. Most of the trekkers spend weeks of the spring in the basecamp waiting for the route to Everest’s summit to open in the may.

The summit to Everest is mentally tougher and physically exhausting. However, the approach to the summit includes the most rewarding views including the local Sherpa culture and tradition. More than 600 people conquer the summit of Everest in the typical year which was half of the attempted number.

Nepal is located in the southern Border and Tibet on the northern side.

Nepal is the most popular side of the summit of Everest. On the other hand, the Chinese government requires a Tibetian Entry permit, and Aliens Travel permits for the ascends.

Climbing Mount Everest

As in spite of the dangerous route and high risk, ascending towards Everest has a high success rate with a month of physical preparation and a week of acclimatization regarding the altitudes and climate.

 It takes about two months to climb Mt Everest. Most of the mountaineers attend to climb Everest during May when temperatures get warmer and high-altitude winds move away from the mountain. Having good weather for the ascend is decisive for the climbers. Climbers usually avoid visiting Everest Region During Rainy days due to the slippery and dangerous trial. Everest is located right at the border between Nepal and Tibet, the majority of climbers go for the south route in Nepal and north route in Tibet. Before making a journey to the summit, the climbers along with their sherpa guides spend two weeks hiking to the Everest base camp (5200m) adjusting to the altitude and waiting for the good climatic condition for the ascend.

Climbing Everest can be expensive as the cost ranges from $35000 to more than $100000. The cost includes $11000 for the government permit from both countries including bottled-oxygen and high altitude gear with tents, Sleeping Bags, and boots. Besides, the estimated cost covers medical care, food, Sherpa guide, and even an oxygen box for them as well.
