Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna Region. It takes just 4 days to complete this trek, and with the addition of its fabulous location around the spectacular Annapurna Region, Mardi Himal Trek certainly attracts an abundance of visitors these days.
Situated at an elevation of 4,500m (Mardi Base Camp), Mardi Himal Trek propounds the majestic views of lofty mountains, including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) (6988m).
Mardi Himal is located to the east of the Annapurna Base Camp. The trail of the trek passes through lush forests filled with Oak, Rhododendron and other vegetation. The landscape change quite dramatically as the trek gets closer to the Mardi Base Camp.
Day 1: Pokhara to Forest Camp
Commence the trek from Kande and walk for about an hour to reach the Australian Camp which provides the first and spectacular glimpse of Mount Annapurna. Halt your trek for few minutes and experience the phenomenal beauty of the Mount Annapurna. Afterwards continue your trek for another 1 hour to reach the Pitam Deurali.
Now have your lunch here and get enough rest. Few hotels are available at this area and you may also ask for the contact number of the hotels on the way to Mardi to pre-book the hotel.

Now from Pitam Deurali the trail catches the way towards the Mardi Base Camp, leaving behind the trail towards the ABC. The well marked trail now passes through the dense forest with the slight ascend.
The trail at this point is quite confusing so be careful and pay attention to the direction board placed at the trekking trail. It takes around 5 hours of continuous walk to reach the Forest Camp from Pitam Deurali.
Also just a single tea house is available on the way from Pitam Deurali to Forest Camp that is also just suitable for small tea break.
Overnight stay at Forest Camp.
Day 2: Forrest camp to High Camp(3500m)
Wake up early in the morning and then have your breakfast. After breakfast continue your walk for around 2 hours to reach the Low Camp (3050m). Upon reaching the Low Camp, order for your lunch and then relax until the lunch gets ready.
Enjoy your lunch witnessing the majestic beauty of Mount Macchapuchre as Low Camp propounds the majestic view of Mount Machhapuchre.
After lunch, continue to follow the scenic trail which offers the mesmerizing view of Mount Annapurna, Machhapuchre and Mardi. From Low Camp, it takes around 3 hours to reach High Camp.
There’s few tea shop available at Badale Danda (3300m) which serves as suitable place to take a short tea break while enjoying the breathtaking views of mountains. Get enough rest and also enjoy the beautiful trekking trail along with the fabulous sceneries as you have enough time due to today’s short trek trail.
Either pre-book the room via phone or reach the high camp earlier as there are only 2 hotels, available in the High Camp so sometimes it might be difficult to get the room. One can find the contact number of hotels of high camp at low camp.
The High Camp offers the sight of stunning Golden Sunset view over Himalayas and the blur view of Pokhara city during night.
Overnight at High Camp.
Day 3: Hike to Mardi Base Camp(4500m) Get back to Low Camp(3050m)
Wake up early in the morning have breakfast and then start to hike towards the Mardi Base Camp. It is suggested to leave your bag packs and belongings there at the hotel as it becomes easier to walk with fewer loads, just carry the required food, camera and enough water.
It takes around 5 hours to reach the Mardi Base Camp from the High Camp. The trail today follows the steep ascends but offers the magnificent views of Himalayas and the beautiful trail of ABC.
Another interesting thing this trail propounds is the view of the helicopters going toward ABC is flying underneath your altitude.
Upon 3 hours of steep ascends there comes the Lower View Point, now with another steep ascends for around 1 hour from Lower View Point, there comes the Upper View Point.
Now, the trail becomes easy from here and after walking for about 30 to 45 minutes from Upper View Point there finally stands the Mardi Base Camp.
Please note that, there is not any tea house or source of water on the way to Mardi Base Camp from High Camp, so carry enough water, chocolates and foods for the hike.
Later return back to High Camp via the same route, have lunch at High Camp, and after lunch trek back to Low Camp.
Overnight at Low Camp.
Day 4: Low Camp to Pokhara
After breakfast at Low Camp hike back for Pokhara today. There are two options available from Low Camp to get back to Pokhara, either use the same route while getting there or descend towards the Sidhing village, which have the facilities of vehicle to the Pokhara.
Please keep in mind the number of vehicle is very less and also the vehicle departs early in the morning. So one must start to walk early in the morning from Low Camp in order to catch the vehicle.
As the trail towards the village follows the steep descends, it takes around 4 hours to reach the village. From village catch the available vehicle and get back to Pokhara which takes around 3 hours.
